The tread itself features heavy scallop shaped shoulder lugs that provide a mud-scoop effect for improved off-road traction. I've only had these tires on my Silverado for almost a week and I've been loving them. I've got a 4 inch lift on my truck with 275/70R18 tires and these tires have so far performed just like my old Coopers did. They do have a slight howl to them which isn't bad and are just as loud as the Duratrax were. I have played in the mud with them and they just have awesome grip and clean really well too. I'm not tracking mud back out on the streets with them. Plus they look great with the white letters out too. Definitely recommend.
